Regional Training Course for the Improvement on Management of Inland Fisheries in Vientiane, Lao PDR

SEAFDEC/IFRDMD organized the Regional Training Course for the Improvement on Management of Inland Fisheries, in Vientiane, Lao PDR on 25-26 July 2019. This activity was hosted by SEAFDEC/ IFRDMD collaborated with Department of Livestock and Fisheries, Lao PDR. Mr. Bounthong Saphakdy, Deputy Director General, opened the Training. The resource person was Prof. Dr. Sonny Koeshendrajana, a Senior Researcher of Center for Marine and Fisheries Social & Economics Research, Agency for Marine and Fisheries Research and Development, Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries – Indonesia. The participants came from the fisheries officer from SEAFDEC Member Countries, namely: Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam as well as staff of SEAFDEC/Secretariat and Training Department. This training is a part of research activity budgeted by Japan Trust Fund VI, entitled: “Promotion of responsible utilization of inland fisheries in Southeast Asia”.

Prof. Sonny delivered the lecture of Improvement on the Management of Inland Fisheries: An EAFM To Inland Fisheries Management. During the Training, the participants discussed a case to analyze the problem on inland fisheries management using the ecosystem approach. (#SA)
