SEAFDEC/IFRDMD and RIIFE-MMAF Receive Visit from PT Prime Agri Resources Tbk
SEAFDEC/Inland Fishery Resources Development and Management Department (IFRDMD), together with the Research Institute for Inland Fisheries and Extension (RIIFE) belongs to Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, received a visit from PT Prime Agri Resources Tbk (PT PAR), particularly from its Agronomy Research – Sustainability Research and Development team, on 16 April 2026 in Palembang, Indonesia.
The delegation was received by Mr. Toru Shimoda, Deputy Chief of SEAFDEC/IFRDMD, accompanied by staff members from IFRDMD and RIIFE. The meeting was organized as part of an initial effort to explore potential collaboration in supporting the sustainable management and conservation of inland fishery resources.
During the meeting, both parties discussed the planned implementation of SPEECTRA on land prepared by PT PAR as a conservation area in the High Conservation Value (HCV) area of Tanjung Sari Village, Ogan Komering Ilir, Indonesia. The discussion focused on the preliminary steps required to support the development of the program in a systematic and measurable manner.
Several initial work plans were highlighted, including the site identification process using EAFM tools and the development of an OECM approach as part of efforts to promote effective and sustainable conservation area management. The discussion was conducted in a constructive and open atmosphere, allowing both sides to exchange views on the potential for collaboration, implementation stages, and opportunities to further strengthen the program.
In addition, PT PAR expressed its positive support for the possible involvement of university students in the program. Such involvement is expected to provide mutual benefits by strengthening field-level implementation while also creating practical learning opportunities for young people in the field of inland fisheries conservation and management.
Through this meeting, SEAFDEC/IFRDMD and RIIFE-MMAF expect to strengthen their partnership with PT PAR in developing collaborative conservation initiatives and promoting the implementation of adaptive, participatory, and sustainable inland fisheries management approaches in Indonesia.
