Animal Sacrifice Ceremony on Eid al-Adha 1446H
On the occasion of Eid al-Adha 1446H, the Research Institute for Inland Fisheries and Extension (RIIFE), under the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, held a sacrificial animal slaughtering ceremony on June 9, 2025, in the courtyard of the RIIFE office.
The sacrificial animals—consisting of one cow and three goats—were voluntarily contributed by RIIFE and SEAFDEC/IFRDMD staff members. In addition, the event was supported by a generous donation of two goats from Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI). This annual tradition reflects the spirit of sacrifice, compassion, and sharing that defines Eid al-Adha.
The ritual slaughter was carried out in accordance with Islamic practices. Afterward, the meat was distributed to all employees. In the spirit of community outreach, portions were also shared with Rumah Tahfiz Pinggiran Silaberanti, retired RIIFE personnel, former researchers of RIIFE, and residents in the surrounding area—ensuring that the blessings of the celebration extended beyond the institution itself.
The event was further enriched by the presence of the Deputy Chief of SEAFDEC/IFRDMD, Mr. Toru Shimoda, whose attendance highlighted the cross-cultural unity and cooperation within the organization. A religious sermon and a collective prayer followed, offering moments of reflection on the values of faith, humility, and gratitude.
The day’s program concluded with a warm communal lunch. The ceremony not only honors a significant religious observance but also strengthens bonds among staff in terms of spiritual values and community engagement.
