SEAFDEC/IFRDMD Participates in the “Bulan Bakti” of the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries
SEAFDEC/IFRDMD took part in the Bulan Bakti (Service Month) organized by the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (MMAF), which this year carried the theme “26 Years with MMAF: Moving, Impactful, and Sustainable to Realize Golden Indonesia.” The event was attended by Mr. Toru Shimoda, Deputy Chief of SEAFDEC/IFRDMD, together with staff, and was hosted by the Research Institute for Inland Fisheries and Extension (RIIFE) at its Palembang office.
Held on Friday, 24 October 2025, the activity began with a morning exercise session enthusiastically joined by staff and participants. After the exercise, the program continued with the distribution of fish-based meals to underprivileged communities, including online motorcycle taxi drivers, street cleaners, and waste collectors in the Jakabaring area of Palembang. This social action reflected RIIFE and SEAFDEC/IFRDMD’s commitment to promoting the nutritional benefits of fish to the wider public, while at the same time raising awareness of the importance of fish consumption for a healthy lifestyle.
Through this participation, SEAFDEC/IFRDMD reaffirmed its support for national initiatives that emphasize sustainability and community welfare. This spirit of collaboration is in line with the vision of “Golden Indonesia 2045,” where the fisheries sector plays a vital role in ensuring food security and improving the livelihoods of people in both coastal and inland areas.
