SEAFDEC/IFRDMD Joins the Celebration of Indonesia’s 80th Independence Day at RIIFE Office
To commemorate the 80th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia, SEAFDEC/IFRDMD actively participated in the celebrations organized by the RIIFE Office of the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries.
Held on 13–14 August, the event featured a variety of lively and spirited games for staff, including tug of war, sack race, women’s soccer, balloon dance, marble-on-spoon race, and the cracker-eating contest. These activities fostered a joyful and energetic atmosphere among participants. The Deputy Chief of IFRDMD, Mr. Toru Shimoda, enthusiastically joined the competitions and proudly won the “giant clog race” (bakiak raksasa), one of the event’s most entertaining highlights.
The celebration continued on 17 August with a flag-raising ceremony held at the RIIFE field, attended by the Deputy Chief and IFRDMD staff. Following the solemn ceremony, prizes were awarded to the winners of the competitions, further elevating the festive spirit of the Independence Day celebration.
Through its participation, SEAFDEC/IFRDMD strengthened camaraderie among staff, fostered closer collaboration with colleagues from the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, and joined in honoring the nation’s milestone anniversary.
