SEAFDEC/IFRDMD Supports Student Development through Internship Program for Sriwijaya University Student

On 21 April 2026, a student of International Relations from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Sriwijaya University, M. Putra Prayoga, delivered his initial internship presentation at SEAFDEC/IFRDMD.
The session was officially opened with welcoming remarks by the Chief of SEAFDEC/IFRDMD, Mr. Andi Soesmono, who emphasized the importance of internship programs in supporting capacity building and fostering collaboration between academic institutions and regional organizations.
In his presentation, Putra introduced his academic background and outlined his proposed focus, which centers on developing an international communication strategy to promote the adoption of the SPEECTRA Model across countries in Southeast Asia. The proposed approach highlights the role of strategic communication in influencing policy perspectives and encouraging knowledge sharing among countries facing similar challenges in inland fisheries management.
The presentation session was followed by a feedback and discussion segment, where constructive inputs were provided by the Deputy Chief of SEAFDEC/IFRDMD, Mr. Toru Shimoda, along with senior staff members of SEAFDEC/IFRDMD. The feedback aimed to refine the proposed ideas and ensure their relevance and applicability within the institutional and regional context.
This internship program offers students the opportunity to bridge academic knowledge with practical experience in a professional environment. Through active engagement, interns are expected to gain deeper insights into regional dynamics, policy communication, and the role of organizations in facilitating cooperation.
During his internship, Putra aims to further develop his understanding of communication strategies, stakeholder engagement, and policy-oriented analysis. He also seeks to contribute to ongoing research and communication-related activities within the institution.
The program is expected to enhance the student’s academic and professional competencies while also supporting the institution’s efforts in promoting sustainable inland fisheries management across the region.
