IFRDMD Visits Facilities at SEAFDEC Training Department

As part of the project “Enhanced Research Capacities for Sustainable Utilization and Management of Eel and Other Inland Fisheries Resources” supported by the Japan Trust Fund (JTF VII) for the period 2025–2029, the IFRDMD team, led by Deputy Chief Mr. Toru Shimoda, visited the SEAFDEC Training Department (TD) in Samut Prakan, Thailand, on 25 July 2025.

The team was warmly welcomed by Mr. Koichi Tahara, Deputy Secretary-General of SEAFDEC and Deputy Chief of TD, and his staff. This activity aims to strengthen collaboration between SEAFDEC departments in support of sustainable fisheries management.

During the visit, the TD team introduced several key facilities, such as: Fishing Workshop (a facility for experimenting with marine and inland fishing gear), Marine Engineering Workshop (a space for testing machines and instruments used in fisheries research and training) and SEAFDEC Marine Vessel (a research and training vessel used for conducting surveys at sea).
