Field Monitoring Under the JAIF Project on Tropical Eel Research and Management
From 19–23 December 2025, SEAFDEC/IFRDMD conducted field monitoring and survey activities in Palabuhan Ratu. This activity was part of the final phase of the Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF) project, entitled “The Development of Stock Assessment Method and Strengthening of Resource Management Measures for Tropical Anguillid Eel in Southeast Asia”.
The primary objectives of the survey were to carry out systematic field observations, data collection, and documentation in accordance with established scientific methods. The team focused on reviewing project implementation at the local level, validating monitoring results, and directly engaging with fishers who have been key contributors to the JAIF Project.
The information gathered during this activity will support the final evaluation of the JAIF Project and provide important inputs for shaping future initiatives aimed at ensuring the sustainable management of tropical anguillid eel resources in Southeast Asia.
